Our History
Established only 3 years ago by Paul Davenport, Plastics 4 Performance was never intended to be!!!
Working as a senior plastics fabricator for a large national sign company meant I could knock up the odd set or two for the mini when any of my friends wanted some.
Redundancy, a family and a lack of cash, saw me selling a few sets on the Mini 7 forums, then a few sets more that we made in the kitchen. We did only Minis at that time, then came the Escort MK2, then the MK1 with a curved rear screen. We purchased these from another supplier, but were never impressed with the quality, so an old friend let me use his sheet heating ovens to thermoform our own and Plastics 4 Performance was officially born.
The first year saw me manufacturing everything in the evening after my full time job, business was good, we had a good product and word spread. My idea was to make anything we were asked for, which has lead to us now having over 150 different vehicles in our patterns, possibly the largest selection in the world for any single company.

Our Facilities
Based in Greater Manchester, we are 5 minutes away from the M60 ring road. Our central location means that it’s just as easy to supply someone in Scotland as it is in Dorset or in fact, anywhere in the world.
We have a well equipped plastics fabrication shop. The latest piece of equipment we have recently commissioned is a micro processor controlled pressurised sheet heating oven, able to carry up to 3 sheets of 8ft x 4ft plastic sheet.
This allows us to normalise (take away internal stresses) and direct mould screens in a controlled temperature environment in our own workshops. In addition to this we have the facilities for a full plastics fabrication service.
- Sheet Heating oven able to handle 2000mm x 1500mm x 800mm
- Line Bending machine for bending angles along lengths of plastic
- Flame and Machine polishing
- Dome blowing
- Vacuum forming (coming soon)
We work closely with our material suppliers to make sure we fully understand the special processes and knowledge required to work with the variety of materials available. And, constantly test things we manufacture in the environment it was designed for.
Keep an eye out for our Peugeot 106 rally car, our guinea pig vehicle; it’s got our windows in it, our mud flaps on it and our plastic sheet protecting various bits under it.
